‘FINN AND WILL’ DELETED SCENE FROM 4×09 “SWAN SONG”

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

Even though it’s been nearly three full months, it still doesn’t seem real that we won’t be able to see any Finn Hudson on our TV screens this season on Glee. That’s why it’s extra special that this deleted scene was released yesterday, exclusively from Digital Spy.

It’s not only a chance for us to see Cory once more in unseen footage, but it’s also a chance for us to really see how each respective coach handled the Sectionals loss last year.

Check it out below and let us know what you think!

So gleeks, what do you think? Are you as emotional as we are over it? Hit us up in the comments below or tweet at us: @TroutyMouthBlog

Rest in Peace, Dear Cory Monteith

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I'm writing to you today. Waking up to the news that Cory Monteith of Glee passed away is like waking up to the news that one of your close friends has passed away.

Not only is this untimely and tragic, but so many will be affected. Millions of his fans are grieving, including us. We can only send all the love in the world to Lea, his friends, family, colleagues, fans and admirers. It's one of the world's greatest shames.

Gone too soon, but never fortgotten, Cory Monteith has spread so much joy to so many people. Today, let's not remember his struggles, but let's remember his accomplishments.

May you continue to spread Glee up there at the pearly gates, Cory. You were loved by so many.

Gleeks, you are not alone today.

Peace. All the love in the world. And Glee for the life of a true talent.

It's that time of the year... the time when we sing sad songs and show our sad faces because the Glee season 4 finale is here. While we are excited to see how this season wraps up, we're sad to know another season has come and gone and TMB has to deal once again with almost a 4 month hiatus.

Glee 4x21 "Wonder-Ful" Songs - First Listen!

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

For the record, I've wanted a Motown tribute for like... since Glee started. While this is technically all Motown - it isn't quite what I had in mind, but I love it nonetheless. Stevie Wonder is a legend... He's the man. So when I was listening to this week's Glee episode (4x21 "Wonder-Ful"), I sort of teared up a little bit.

Not only does the cast do Stevie justice, but... as they always do... they added a little bit of flair to make these songs their own. Check 'em out:

Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours
Performed by: Becca Tobin

Uptight (Everything's Alright)
Performed by: Kate Hudson

You Are the Sunshine of My Life
Performed by: Chris Colfer

Higher Ground
Performed by: Amber Riley

I Wish
Performed by: Jacob Artist

For Once In My Life
Performed by: Kevin McHale

Superstition
Performed by: Amber Riley, Darren Criss & Melissa Benoist

How amazing is this? Kevin McHale, you are a God. Stevie Wonder is a legend, and Glee does him justice for sure! Tell us what you think in the comments below or hit us up on Twitter: @TroutyMouthBlog.

Songs 'Glee' Should Cover - Requests Vol. 4

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

I know it's a little bit late, but here's our Glee Song Request for April!

This week's theme: Solos!(ish)... At least songs mainly sung by one person... Whatever! We tried. Here we go - sit back, relax, and enjoy our thoughts!

SONG: "This Used to Be My Playground" by Madonna

WHO SINGS IT: Quinn

SCENARIO: Quinn comes back to McKinley for the young'ns graduation. While there, they have a small reunion in the choir room. She announces to everyone then that her mom is moving to Connecticut to be closer to her. Her dad remarried and moved away, so there's really nothing left for her in Ohio. All of the old New Directions realize that everyone's growing up and some people have to move on. She and her friends cheers to the good times at McKinley and walk out of the choir room doors. Quinn is the last to leave, and as she looks back, she sees a flashback of her and all of her friends laughing in the choir room. The music begins and she turns off the lights.

As she proceeds down the hall she peeks into Sue's office, into the gym, and proceed out to the back field, all the while reminiscing about times at McKinley, where we'll see a montage of old scenes from Seasons 1-3.

LYRICS SUNG:
This used to be my playground (used to be)
This used to be my childhood dream
This used to be the place I ran to
Whenever I was in need
Of a friend
Why did it have to end
And why do they always say

Don't look back
Keep your head held high
Don't ask them why
Because life is short
And before you know
You're feeling old
And your heart is breaking
Don't hold on to the past

This used to be my playground (used to be)
This used to be my childhood dream
This used to be the place I ran to
Whenever I was in need
Of a friend
Why did it have to end
And why do they always say

This used to be our playground (used to be)
This used to be our childhood dream
This used to be the place we ran to
I wish you were standing here with me

SONG: "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore

WHO SINGS IT: Sam

SCENARIO: Sam and Brittany break up. The boys rally together to help cheer him up. Blaine says that shopping always makes him feel better. Since Blaine and Sam are BFF, Sam thinks that's an excellent idea. But because he's in high school, his parents are still struggling a little bit and he doesn't have time for a job with school and Glee club, he can't afford shopping. Teen Jesus steps in and announces that he buys all of his clothes from thrift shops, and suggests they start there. They get up to leave, and the scene immediately changes to a thrift shop floor where they're all walking around looking for clothes -- all the while Sam's rapping to "Thrift Shop".

LYRICS SUNG:
Blaine:I'm gonna pop some tags
Only got twenty dollars in my pocket
I-I-I'm huntin'
Lookin' for a come up
This is really awesome

Walk into the club like what up I'm a big shot
I'm so pumped I bought some stuff from a thrift shop
Ice in the fringe is so damn frosty
The people like "Damn, that's a cold ass honkey!"
Rollin'in hella deep headed to the mezanine
Dressed in all pink 'cept my gator shoes those are green
Draped in a leopard mink girls standin' next to me
Probably shoulda washed this, it smells like R. Kelly's sheets-

Artie: Shhhhhhh!
Ryder:But shoot it was 99 cents!

Sam:If I get caught in it, washin' it,
'Bout to go and get some compliments
Passin' off on those moccasins
Someone else has been walkin' in but me and grungie shop em in
I am stuck in ya closet
Savin' my money and I'm hella happy that's a bargain trick
I'mma take your grandpa's style, I'mma take your grandpa's style,
No for real, ask your grandpa can I have his hand-me-downs?
Velour jump suit and some house slippers
Doukie brown leather jacket that I found diggin'
They had a broken keyboard I bought a broken keyboard
I bought a skeet blanket and then I bought a kneeboard
Hello hello my ace man my mello
John Wayne ain't got nothin' on my fringe game
Hell no
I can take some pro wings make em cool sell those
The sneaker heads will be like
"Ahhh, he got the velcro."

Blaine:I'm gonna pop some tags
Only got twenty dollars in my pocket
I-I-I'm huntin'
Lookin' for a come up
This is really awesome
I'm gonna pop some tags
Only got twenty dollars in my pocket
I-I-I'm huntin'
Lookin' for a come up
This is really awesome

SONG: "The Rose" by Bette Midler

WHO SINGS IT: Rachel

SCENARIO: Rachel just finished her Spring semester. She and Kurt have a long conversation about Summer plans. Rachel tells Kurt that she was going home to Lima for the summer. Her plan is to surprise Finn. She's been able to find herself and follow her dreams, he's been able to grow up, and now she's ready to commit to him. When Kurt expresses some concern, she replies "Relationships are a lot like flowers. If you find the right seed, put it in good soil, give it water and sunlight, bam. Perfect bud. And then comes winter and the flower dies. But if you tend that garden, spring will come along and that flower will bloom again."

LYRICS SUNG:
Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger,
An endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower,
And you its only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
Who cannot seem to give,
And the soul afraid of dyin'
That never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose.

SONG: "Clown" by Emeli Sande

WHO SINGS IT: Brittany

SCENARIO: Brittany was accepted to MIT and her parents are making her attend next semester. But she's scared because she knows she doesn't do well in school. When Santana comes back to help her through this decision, Brittany tells her that she thinks she'd "rather just go to clown college than regular college because all clowns accept each other for all of their quirks, no matter what they are, no matter how smart or how stupid they are." When Santana assures her that she really is a genius and she'll do just fine in "regular" college, Brittany starts crying. She replies knowing she'll do fine in college, but she doesn't think MIT is right for her. And she doesn't know how to approach her parents. Queue the music and flash to Brittany singing in the choir room to the Glee club.

LYRICS SUNG:
I guess it's funnier from where you're standing
'Cause from over here I've missed the joke
Cleared the way for my crash landing
I've done it again, another number for before your notes
I'd be smiling if I wasn't so desperate
I'd be patient if I had the time
I could stop and answer all of your questions
As soon as I find out how I could move from the back of the line

So I'll be your clown
Behind the glass
Go 'head and laugh 'cause it's funny
I would too if I saw me
I'll be your clown
On your favorite channel
My life's a circus-circus round in circles
I'm selling out tonight

From a distance my choice is simple
From a distance I can entertain
So you can see me I put makeup on my face
But there's no way you can feel it
From so far away

So I'll be your clown
Behind the glass
Go 'head and laugh 'cause it's funny
I would too if I saw me
I'll be your clown
On your favorite channel
My life's a circus-circus round in circles
I'm selling out tonight

SONG: "Gold" - Britt Nicole

WHO SINGS IT: Marley

SCENARIO: The Glee Club just got back from Regionals, and it turns out they came in a close second place, right behind the Hoosier Daddies. It's the last day of classes and everyone in Glee club is upset. Marley stands up to remind them all of the wonderful year they had and how far they've come. She reminds them that they helped her through a really dark time in her life-- even if someone within the club was responsible. She reminds them that they made it through the scary possible shooting together. And she reminds them of all the fun they had preparing for the wedding and preparing for competition. She reminds them that she's made friends with people in the club that she'd never be friends with if it hadn't been for Glee. She tells them that this club, even if they hadn't won, it's gold. THEY'RE gold.

LYRICS SUNG:
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh

You were walking on the moon, now you're feeling low
What they said wasn't true, you're beautiful
Sticks and stones break your bones, I know what you're feeling
Words like those won't steal your glow, you're one in a million

This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
So hold your head up high, it's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)

So don't let anybody tell you that you're not loved
And don't let anybody tell you that you're not enough
Yeah there are days when we all feel like we're messed up
But the truth is that we're all diamonds in the rough
So don't be ashamed to wear your crown
You're a king you're a queen inside and out
You glow like the moon, you shine like the stars
This is for you, wherever you are

Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, oh, oh,
You're gold

This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
(So hold your head up) So hold your head up high,
It's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Your golden, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Your golden, you're gold)

So don't be ashamed to wear your crown
You're a king you're a queen inside and out

Overheard in the Fandom: Why Trouty Mouth Blog Sucks

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

Part of the fun in operating a Glee blog is being part of a tremendously passionate, fun fandom. Unfortunately, as with any fandom, you can't please everyone. That's just the way it is. We're totally fine with it, and even tend to poke fun at ourselves when we have the opportunity.

Recently, we came across some information - some things that people have said about us in the past, and who knows, maybe they still think this way about us now. But we've decided to make this an opportunity to talk about the top 5 reasons TMB sucks:

  1. We like Glee.
  2. We are tweens.
  3. We say that people overreact.
  4. We don't understand important social issues.
  5. We are "up the asses" of certain cast/crew members.

Top 5 reasons we agree with you:
  1. No we don't. We just run this blog for the perks.
  2. I wish. Being a tween... That was the life.
  3. What I want to say would be an overreaction here.
  4. Well, if it didn't happen to us, we know nothing about it.
  5. You know? Who cares if one of my favorite places to spend time is up someone's ass. It's just something I prefer. Not everyone wants to shove their head up people's asses but that's their choice. I couldn't be more happy with shoving my whole head into someone's ass.

But in all seriousness, here are some things that we do want to get across about our blog and our Twitter.
  • It's a television show. While it may not go exactly how we want it every single time, we're unfortunately not writing it. So we can't make that call. We just try not to get too worked up over things -- we try to maintain a cool head as much as possible.
  • We're really in our mid-twenties.
  • We don't think people overreact. We think people use their passion in negative ways. We'd just like to see people redirect that energy into something more positive.
  • Both of us have been through a lot. Maybe our feelings or what we've been through isn't the same as what someone else went through, but it doesn't mean we don't understand. Maybe we just have a slightly different understanding of it based on our experiences. Not everyone has the same experience.
  • Our heads are really just stuck on our necks. But if being nice to people is putting our head's in their ass, then so be it. I think we're okay with it, we're not going to turn to hateful comments and spiteful remarks. That's just not how we do things, no matter how frustrated we get with certain elements on the show.

As always...

This week's Gleecap is going to be a little bit different than what we usually do. Usually our gleecaps are filled with snarky, fun-filled sarcasm, and a brief synopsis of what happened.

However, this week's episode addressed a serious topic. While we may add opinions, these are just our opinions. Nothing is meant to be political here - we're not that kind of blog.

We will go into detail on what happened. And then we will give our opinions on the topic. And we will invite discussion. It's something that should be talked about. It's something that should be addressed. And it's something that people should be aware of.

So first, let's get into the Gleecap:

First, the episode opens with Will naming the compeition for Regionals. I've watched the episode twice, and the only name that's stuck so far is the "Hoosier Daddies" from Indiana. Whoever came up with that one is ruuuuuullll clever.

Then, it goes into a spiel about how Ryder saw his girl - the one he's been chatting with via internet & text. He went to go see her, but Beiste stopped him. So he didn't get the chance. Instead, he went and found her, and then sang her Your Song by Elton John. Excellently sung song, Blake Jenner. Excellent.

Turns out though that the Katie he sang to was really Marissa and he just got Manti Te'o-ed.

He originally thinks it's Marley or Jake. They deny it, but he wants nothing to do with them.

Let's segway to Beiste. She cooked Will a nice spaghetti dinner and told him that she loved him. He obviously doesn't return the feelings, but most importantly, Beiste makes us cry.

Brittany thinks a meteor/astroid/comet is going to hit Earth and kill everyone. So she decides that she wants to make everything right with Lord Tubbington (because apparently they've been fighting), and Sam tells her that she should sing him a song. The New Directions sing him More Than Words (side note: Whit and I have been wanting this song for years... maybe not in this setting. BUT on this show for forever.)

Turns out the meteor/astroid/comet is really just a dead lady bug at the end of Brittany's Pringle's can, but hey, she can't blame her telescope. She finds out they're all saved, but dispands the Astrology club anyway.

As everyone's leaving, Becky asks Britany to stay in high school for forever. Becky is scared of the real world, but Brittany pinky promises him that if she prepares, the real world won't be so scary. It was probably the second sweetest moment of the whole episode.

The Glee Club's assignment is to sing songs as if it's their last chance. As Will is explaining the lesson to Beiste in the choir room, they hear gunshots. So, Beiste and Schue get the kids down low, turn off the lights and do their best to keep everyone quiet and calm. I'll briefly go through the need-to-knows during the shooting, because really you should watch this episode:

- Brittany and Tina aren't in the choir room, but most everyone else is.
- Brittany (or who you assume is Britt) tries to get into the choir room, but the doors are locked - she tries both doors, then slams another door, and you find out later she's hiding on top of the toilet, crying in the bathroom.
- You find out later, Tina was late, and she's outside with half the rest of the student body.
- Marley is concerned about her mom. She keeps texting her, but her mom won't respond.
- Kitty confesses to Marley that she took in her clothes during Grease.
- Sam really wants to go find Brittany, and almost puts the rest of the Glee club in danger by screaming about it and going to find her.
- Artie thinks it's a good idea for everyone in the room to record messages on his cell phone in case they don't make it out of there.
- Schue eventually finds Brittany and brings her into the choir room.
- Ryder calls the girl that Catfished him and a phone within the choir room rang.

The school cracks down on security. Sue thinks it's an overreaction. She also confesses to the gunshots being fired from her gun.

Ryder plans to meet the girl that Catfished him outside the choir room. She never showed, and we never find out who it is.

At the last part of the episode, we find out that Sue is really covering for Becky. Becky was scared about graduating and brought the gun to school. Sue was handling the situation, but the gun accidentally went off, Becky dropped the gun, and a second shot was fired.

Sue packs up her stuff and leaves McKinley High... whether she will come back or not is still up in the air, but the way they left it, it doesn't look good.

Meanwhile Glee club sings Say. It was seriously so emotional.

Now, let's talk about our thoughts.

First and foremost, I want everyone to know that I don't believe that gun control and mental health initiatives are mutually exclusive. I think they're both important.

But before we dive in, let's talk about how Glee addressed this episode. Personally, I think it was very well done. It made you feel - and that's what is important. I can tell you that each and everytime I hear about a school shooting in our nation I feel sick. I feel sad. I feel flabbergasted. I feel heartbroken. The amount of emotions I feel literally makes my stomach hurt.

Well tonight Glee made me feel that way. But I was okay with it, because I think it was supposed to portray that feeling. But I want to make note that I don't believe that it's a mockery or that it's "too soon" or anything like that -- School shootings have been a serious issue in our country since Columbine in 1999. All Glee did tonight, in MY optinion, is bring awareness to the issue.

Now let's talk about the real culprit here. Turns out that it was Becky who was repsonsible for the shooting. Now, we know that she did not intend on shooting, and she was seeking help from Sue. But the shots were fired, and she brought a gun to school nonetheless.

First of all, let's not confuse mental health with a genetic condition. Down's Syndrome is a genetic condition that affects the chromosomes of a person - NOT their mental stability. BUT, that brings me to my first point that I'd like to address: Mental health is such an important issue in our country and we need to be aware of it.

However, in the case of these school shootings that have happened over the last 15 years, most of them are mentally ill. If you haven't heard about the blog article I Am Adam Lanza's Mother, then read the article and come back to this.

Let me preface this statement with "we're all human". We're all fallible... Whether healthy, mentally ill, or born with Down's, we can all feel trapped, lash out, or make mistakes. However, generally those who can think clearly can know the difference between what's right and what's wrong.

However, those with mental illnesses that feel this is their only way out, or that feel that they need to bring a gun to school to make a statement, or that truly feel that the only way they'll be free is to kill those "holding them back"... they especially need help. What really makes me think about the woman in the article I linked to above is that the only way anyone could help her is if this kid was "in the system". That's not going to help anyone. That child needs help - while he's still innocent.

I'm going to stop there, becasue the thoughts that come after are political. And personally I'd like to keep that as separate as possible. But regardless, it's a serious issue within our country.

Next, it's gun control. While I'm not going to express my personally beliefs on gun control, I will say that not everyone should have a gun. And whether we make laws, or restrictions, or make tests for who can have them -- whatever the case may be... not everyone should have a gun.

With that said, I know that those who want them will get them if they set their minds to it.

That's why tonight's Glee episode was so important. Becky's not a terrorist. She's not a bad person. She's scared, as Sue said -- just like everyone else. The way she handled it might have been different than how someone else may have handled it, and Sue was trying to address it in the best way possible. But it shouldn't be up to Sue.

It's scary for teachers to wake up and go to school every day. It's scary for kids to go to school every day. We need to figure out a way to make it harder for those that are unqualified to get guns, and easier for those who have mental illnesses to find the help they need - however big or small the issue may be.

That being said, I believe this episode was about awareness. Glee addressed the school shooting tastefully in my opinion. They were showing that it's scary, it could happen anywhere, and it could happen for any reason -- but we have to figure out how to weed out the possibilities with every student without having metal detectors at the front entry way of every school.

It may be an impossible feat. But it's something we have to at least aspire to do. Someone's got to make a difference. Someone's got to step in and try to stop these unnecessary tragedies.

Moreover, I believe that Glee wanted to show that school is supposed to be a safe place. And lately it's not. Even at McKinley High -- the safest school we all know -- it doesn't even feel safe. How do we make our schools safe again? How do we make school a place where parents feel safe sending their kids and school? how do we make kids feel safe in the classroom, in the hallways, in the common grounds of their school?

Maybe these questions won't get answered. But it's sure something that should be addressed, and in my opinion, it's something that we should all be aware of.

In closing, I'll say this: These issues are serious. They are hurtful. They are sensitive. And moreover, we need to know that we can find help, somehow some way... And right now I believe the lack of help is the issue. Becky was asking Sue for help. If you need help, there's someone that you can ask help from, too, and we're here to post those numbers. Not very many songs, but all are filled with emotion... I wonder how they will be incorporated into the episode. It should be interesting! Without further ado, here's your first listen for Glee 4x18: "Shooting Star".

Celebrating 2 Years of Operating a Glee Blog
Whit and Bon celebrating 2 years of TMB!
As you all know, this little website turned two on Friday. Obviously, true to form, we had to have a TMB reunion. (For those who don't know, Whit & I worked together where we went to school -- but we don't live near each other. A good two hour trekk away...)

Our original plan was to make a video that allowed you guys to celebrate with us. We partied hard on the TMB's birthday. But... because we got caught up in the celebration with many of our good friends, we failed to make the video. It was unfortunate. What we did do, though -- take a bunch of pictures, so at least you'll be able to catch a glimpse at the fun we had.
Whitney's sister Courtney joined in the festivities!
Which brings me to my next point -- Operating this blog has been so much fun over the last two years. Sure, it takes some time and some work. These posts don't just write themselves you know...

And we have had a lot of help from guest bloggers & friends who have taken the lead writing some gleecaps & getting promos up. But for the most part, this little website is built from Whit's and my blood, sweat, and tears... Okay that's a little dramatic. It hasn't made us bleed or sweat. It has made us cry on occasion though -- all good tears, don't worry.

Thanks to this little blog (and decent paying jobs), we have a list of things that we would never have dreamed of accomplishing, but have because two years ago we decided to buy a domain for ten bucks.

I think among our favorite of our accomplishments, it's meeting you guys. Not only do we have some really great friends that we've met at concerts, in different cities, via Twitter, etc. but these meetings and conversations with you all have motivated us to stick with it.
Glee Fan Site
The first post on TroutyMouth.com
It can be a lot of work -- I don't know how some of you other fan sites out there do it! You do twice as much as we do, and you don't even sweat over it! But when we think about how much work it can be, we think about you. All of your kind comments, your sweet words, and your support over the last two years has really made it all worth it.

So, now that we're 2 years and 2 days old, we invite you all to celebrate with us. Keep the peace, love & Glee. Keep the support with one another. And if you're over 21, have a drink with us! Because you have been a crucial part of making this blog successful, and quite frankly my dear... you deserve it!

Thanks for all the love and support, and here's to more years to come!
