So, we're starting a new segment on the blog for Glee song requests. There are just so many songs out there, and we know Glee can't do them all. So we thought we'd throw out five ideas each month, give the scenarios they fall in. And let you use your imaginations.
This month's theme -- getting everyone to New York! For the first installment of "Songs Glee Should Cover", here are our five choices:
SONG: "Back for Good" - Take That (Boyz II Men rendition)
WHO SINGS IT: Finn & Rachel, Brittany and Santana, Kurt and Blaine
SCENARIO: All of the graduates return for Will & Emma's wedding. At the reception, intro starts & there's a montage of each couple catching one another's eyes. Finn sees Rachel dancing with Brody. Santana sees Brittany dancing with Sam. Kurt sees Blaine hanging out at a different table by himself.
LYRICS SUNG:
Finn: I guess now it's time for me to give up, I feel it's time / Got a picture of you beside me / Got your lipstick mark still on your coffee cup, oh yeah.
Rachel: Got a fist of pure emotion / Got a head of shattered dreams / Gotta leave it, gotta leave it all behind now
Group: Whatever I said, whatever I did / I didn't mean it / I just want you back for good / Want you back, want you back / I want you back for good
Whenever I'm wrong / Just tell me the song and I'll sing it / You'll be right and understood / Want you back, want you back / I want you back for good
Brittany: Unaware but underlined / I figured out this story, it wasn't good / But in the corner of my mind I celebrated glory / But that was not to be
Santana: In the twist of separation / You excelled at being free / Can't you find a little room inside for me
Group: Whatever I said, whatever I did / I didn't mean it / I just want you back for good / Want you back, want you back / I want you back for good
Whenever I'm wrong / Just tell me the song and I'll sing it / You'll be right and understood / Want you back, want you back / I want you back for good
Kurt: And we'll be together, this time is forever / We'll be fighting and forever we will be
Blaine: So complete in our love / We will never be uncovered again.
Group: Whatever I said, whatever I did / I didn't mean it / I just want you back for good / Want you back, want you back / I want you back for good
Whenever I'm wrong / Just tell me the song and I'll sing it / You'll be right and understood / Want you back, want you back / I want you back for good

SONG: "The Best" - Tina Turner
WHO SINGS IT: Santana about Brittany
SCENARIO: Santana struggles with the possibility to move to New York. She comes home to visit McKinley. She and Britt (though they aren't together again, yet), have a conversation about how Santana can succeed in anything she does, and how Brittany still believes in Santana. Santana smiles at Brittany, says "Thanks, Britt, you really are the best". Starts to realize that Santana's accomplished much of what she's accomplished so far because of the support she's had from Brittany.
LYRICS SUNG:
I call you when I need you, my heart's on fire
You come to me, come to me wild and wired
When you come to me
Give me everything I need
Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
Speak a language of love like you know what it means
And it can't be wrong
Take my heart and make it strong baby
You're simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead
Each time you leave me I start losing control
You're walking away with my heart and my soul
I can feel you even when I'm alone
Oh baby, don't let go
You're simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead

SONG: "I Am Woman" - Helen Reddy
WHO SINGS IT: Tina
SCENARIO: Tina is struggling with the thought of persuing a broadway career as an Asian-American. Everyone she talks to tells her that she won't land any roles because of her ethnicity. Artie, who decides he wants to go to New York to direct off-Broadway plays, tells her that he'd cast her. She thanks him, but still isn't confident. Artie tells her "Remember? You are a powerful Asian-American woman, and your growing feminism will cut anyone who tells you "No" in half like a righteous blade of equality!" She laughs and says, "you're right. We've always been told no. We've had slushies thrown in our faces and we've still kept fighting. If I want to do it, I just can't take no as an answer."
LYRICS SUNG:
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'Cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again
Oh yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to
I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
You can bend but never break me
'Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul
Oh, yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to
I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

LYRICS SUNG:
Brittany: Let's dance in style, lets dance for a while / Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies / Hoping for the best but expecting the worst / Are you going to drop the bomb or not?

SONG: "Dancing in the Streets" - Martha and the Vandellas
WHO SINGS IT: Brittany and Mike, with the New Directions and old graduates as back-ups
SCENARIO: New Directions go to New York for Nationals. All the old graduates show up for support. They all decide to go out together (similar to Season 2 finale). Rachel and Kurt talk about how much fun they are having in New York, and how they miss everyone. Mike breaks the news that he is transferring to Juliard for dance, because he's not sure if he's getting what he wants from his school in Chicago. Brittany says "it doesn't matter where you dance, as long as you're dancing." Does a magical turn, set changes to New York city street. They take the lead on the song, but all the other cast members dance with them.
LYRICS SUNG:
Brittany: They're dancin' in Chicago / Down in New Orleans / Up in New York City
Mike: All we need is music, sweet music / There'll be music everywhere / There'll be swingin', swayin' and records playin' / And dancin' in the streets
Brittany: Oh, it doesn't matter what you wear / Just as long as you are there / So come on, every guy grab a girl / Everywhere around the world
Both: There'll be dancin' / They're dancin' in the street
Brittany: Way down in L.A., every day / Dancing in the Streets
Mike: Let's form a big strong line / Get in Time / Dancing in the Streets
Brittany: Across the ocean blue / me and you / Dancing in the Streets
