Gleecap: 3x07 - "Kissed a Girl" Recap

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

If you missed this week's episode of Glee, we hope you had a good reason… like you were on a date with Stephen Baldwin or David Boreanaz or something… or maybe you haven't come out of your "Mash-Off" induced coma, but seriously you guys, it's been two weeks. Just in case though, here's the gleecap for everything you missed on 3x07 "I Kissed a Girl":

Figgy wants to suspend Santana for rude boxing Finn in the face (see last week's episode). But then Finn said she didn't do it. And came up with a "Lady Music Week" to defend Santana's honor & let her be who she wants to be. So sweet.

To start, Kurt & Blaine lead off with a rendition of Pink's "Perfect" which they sang to Santana.

Sue decides she needs a mayun in her life. So… she decides to nab that boot knockin' Cooter Menkins. In the mean time Coach Beiste thinks he's the only man for her. Uh oh. I smell a love triangle & beiste of a fight…

Puck sings "I'm the Only One" to… Santana… but really to Shelby… and to me in my dreams… tonight...

Quinn tries to get Puck in her bed… like I'll try to… in my dreams… tonight…. but he basically tells her she's crazy and that he wasn't interested. His exact words "I'd rather raw dog a bee hive." Haha.

The most important message of the show: Finn told Santana that he doesn't want anything to happen to Santana… Ever… and that she means something to her. And that he knows something like this could make her hurt herself, as it does to other kids who've had to deal with stuff like this. (My point last week) And it made me cry. And it also made me fall in love with Finn Hudson all over again.

Then he sang a slow ballad version of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" with the other Glee Club guys. She cried. Then she said thanks. Then they hugged. Then he told her he loved her. I cried more.

Beiste tries to get tons of chicken for dinner with a side of chicken. She catches Cooter on a date with Sue. And it gets interrupted by Sue's iPhone 5.

Beiste expresses her sadness. She cries. I cry again. What is this crey-ery?

The election happened. Lots of split votes. JBI seemed to think it was Brittany all the way. Most of the Glee Club voted for Kurt though…

Beiste sings "Jolene", and she rocks it. With some funny Sue + Cooter moments in the background.

Some sophomore douchebag tries to "straighten" Santana out… and he considers her a challenge. Luckily the girls come to her rescue, defend her, and tell the sophomore douchebag off. Then they sing "I Kissed a Girl" and a great performance. Particularly Rory's face & Mike Chang's dance moves at the end.

Then abruptly after the performance, Santana mentions that she came out to her parents and that they were okay with it. Huh? Whatever.

Oh then it switches to the fact that Kurt won the election… but because someone stuffed the ballot box. They think it's Kurt that did it. But no. No it wasn't. And Kurt cries. And then I cry a little. And then that's when you find out Rachel did it.

Turns out Puck's smart. What?

Then Shelby calls Puck & he rushes out of the classroom. It's Beth. She busted her lip. Puck played dad. It was hot. Shelby thought so too, because the next scene was Puck… in bed… Shelby's bed… after they did it. Student-teacher relations: though fun and scandalous, make me barf in my mouth a little. #offensiveandinnappropriate

Shelby told Puck that they made a mistake. And Shelby kicks him out. Puck tells her off.

Santana tells her abuela that she's a lesbian. And she tells her that she loves her and that she wants her to know her… I cried a little. Then her grandma kicks her out and tells her that she should have kept it a secret and that she never wants to see her again. I cried a little more. #creyseverywhere

Puck is still heated about the Shelby incident. So he goes to Quinn's. She tries to seduce him to get another baby. Then they stop, on Puck's account. Then Puck realizes that no one helped Quinn and he felt bad for her. Then tells her that she'll make something of herself. Hey, Puck? Marry me.

Oh… then he tells her that he and Shelby slept together and that he was angry with Shelby. Smooth. #ithoughtyouweresmart

Sue loses the election to Burt. And Beiste comes in to tell Sue off & tell Cooter that she's gonna fight for him. And that she's in love with him. You guessed it. More cries. #teambeiste

Rachel missed the end of the week Glee class rehearsal & Kurt congratulates Brittany on her Presidential win! Yay Brittany!.

Santana sings "Constant Craving" but it ends up being a trifecta of singers, as Shelby and Kurt end up in the mix, too. Great performance though.

Oh… Rachel gets suspended for a week for stuffing the ballot box. She can't perform at sectionals…

and that's what you missed on… Glee!

Bonnie's Perspective on Glee 3x06: "Mash-Off"

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

Everyone had their take on last week's episode. It hit home for a lot of people. It made other people think Santana was a bitch and deserved what she got. It made some people hate Finn and blame him for everything...

After a week of letting it sit in, breaking it down, thinking about it, and realizing not just the effect it had on me, but the effect that it could have on society as a whole. Now, take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm not here to convince anyone on how to think, I'm not here to argue with any differing perspectives, and I'm not here to say that this episode is going to (or has) change(ed) the world.

So, without further ado, here's what I thought about what I would say is one of the most heartfelt & heart-wrenching episodes of Glee yet - 3x06: "Mash-Off":

I heard a lot of discussion about last week's episode. I heard great things. I heard awful things. I heard things that made me happy. I heard things that made me sad. I heard things that make me angry. That's why I needed a week to sit on this and say what I want to say.

First of all, I don't want to beat around the bush. I'm straight. I have no idea what it would feel like to have to come out. I have no idea what it would feel like to be outed before you're ready. I have no idea what it's like to have to hide something like that from the people I love most. I have no idea.

To those people that have to, first I want to tell you that I admire you. And second I want to tell you that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for the pressure society puts on people so that they cannot be themselves. I can't imagine what it would be like. And I think that sucks.

Second of all, I want to say that even though I am straight and I may not be able to empathize, I definitely can sympathize. Do I think Santana was right in her actions during the show? Not one bit. Do I think Finn had a right to out her? Not one bit. And you know what your mother used to tell you... "Two wrongs don't make a right".

So... in a very roundabout way, I'm telling you this:

1) I think that Santana was as raging of a bitch as we'd ever seen her.
2) I think Finn had a right to defend himself and fight back with Santana.
3) Finn was way out of line. WAY out of line.

This, coming from someone who can't empathize with what Santana felt. However, I do have to mention, I've stuck to my initial thought from the get-go. Since the episode aired my heart broke. I thought of all the LGBT people I know, and I do know a handful, and my heart immediately broke for them.

Never is it okay to be outed before you're ready. THAT changes your life. The moment someone comes "out of the closet" their life is flipped upside down. Their life will never be the same. If a person's not ready to handle that... if they're not equipped yet to handle it, at no fault of their own... if they can't face the pressures of family (especially conservative families), friends, and society as a whole, they have the right to stay in the closet for as long as they need.

(Again... this coming from someone who has no idea what it's like, these are just the feelings I have)

That said, I wish it were different. I wish people would understand. I wish people wouldn't judge. I wish that if someone likes people of the same sex it would be easy for him or her to say it. And say it proudly. Without judgement.

Unfortunately, that's not how our world works. That's why I think that anyone who wants to has the right to stay in the closet for as long as they want. Without judgement.

The last point I really want to make is though I think what Finn did was absolutely way out of line, I do think Santana was out of line. Calling people fat, calling people ugly, telling them they have no talent... That's something that can change a person's life, too.

That's why I think this episode, like many of the episodes that dealt with Kurt and Karofsky, were ground breaking- world changing, if you will. This is the type of thing high school kids face on a daily basis. It sickens me to think that any person could ever feel as low in their life as they could by being bullied -- to the point that they'd want to not go to school, hurt themselves, or even take their own life. Sadly, that's a reality for entirely too many people these days.

That's why I think it's important to let people know that they're not alone. And that no matter how bad things get, it will get better. And THAT is something with which I can empathize. Just know that it will get better.

Bullying is never okay. Both Finn and Santana were bullies. Both of their lives were affected, unfortunately one person's world was shattered in an instant, as we can see here:

Thanks for taking the time to read this long-winded post. I just felt like I had a lot to say about it. And maybe, just maybe, it offered a perspective you might not have heard.

I know I made my last point, but for anyone going through a hard time, I just want to say one more thing:

1) You're not alone, and we here at Troutymouth.com love you just as you are.
2) Here are a couple resources to possibly give you a little piece of mind, no matter how hard things are right now:

* The Trevor Project
* The Living Memoir
* S.A.F.E. Alternatives
* Childhelp
* National Domestic Violence Helpline
* Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network

Gleecap: Glee 3x06 - 'Mash-Off'

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

I don't know why you'd miss the most anticipated episode of the season, but in case you had locked yourself in a dark hole after the "Rumour Has It/Someone Like You" mashup was released, and couldn't bring yourself to come out, even for an hour for this episode, which is probably a good thing because it was more than a tear jerker, then here's what you missed on Glee:

Everyone is fighting. Puck is fighting hard core for Shelby (By singing "Hot for Teacher"... HOT by the way). Sue's fighting dirty in her campaigns against Burt & telling lies. Glee clubs are fighting against one another because each thinks they're better than the other - particularly Santana and Finn.

Will & Shelby decide it's a good idea to channel all the angst into a mash-off competition.

Quinn asks Shelby if she can join the Troubletones

Finn & Santana trash talk each other- beast mode style- and then Finn challenges her to a dodgeball competition.

Rachel & Shelby share a mother daughter moment. She asks Shelby to sign her letter of recommendation & Shelby tells her how proud she is. Then Rachel suggests maybe she should write her letter herself.

Rachel tells Kurt she misses being his friend. He doesn't buy it.

Queue incredibly fun dodgeball scene. Troubletones win! Santana nails Finn and that's that... oh, then they bombard Rory with dodgeballs and Kurt steps in to his defense.

Mercedes nominates herself for Troubletones president. Everyone but Santana agrees. Then they decide on an Adele mashup for the Mashoff competition. Then they tell Santana she has to start playing fair.

Then Santana goes to apologize. Instead she just insults Finn like crazy. So... he outs her. In the hallway. In front of anyone passing by.

Puck tells Shelby about Quinn calling Child Protective Services. And he also tells her he wants to be a family with her and Beth.

New Directions wins the mashoff faceoff so they go first. They perform a mashup of "You Make My Dreams Come True/I Can't Go For That". It was pretty amazeballs.

Class President speeches: Not too exciting. We found out the hockey jock's name. It's Rick "The Stick" Nelson. Then Brittany gave her speech. Nothing really made sense except Topless Tuesday. Then Kurt gave his speech, saying that he didn't want anyone to feel bullied. And that he wanted to protect everyone as best as he could. First step: Banning dodgeball. Then Rachel gave her speech, and said that everyone should vote for Kurt. Then they made up and were friends again. It was cute.

Quinn stops by Shelby's house and Shelby tells that she knows about CPS & she has no idea what it's like to be a mother. Then Quinn calls her a cash whore. Wrong move. Shelby kicks her out and tells her she can't see Beth anymore.

Then it turns out that the other candidate running against Sue & Burt created a campaign commercial that basically accused Sue of being a lesbian & supporting lesbians, by naming Santana head cheerleader, basically outing her to the whole world. Santana cried, saying "I can't believe this is happening. I haven't even told my parents yet." And ran out. It. Was. Heartbreaking.

Queue the Adele mashup. And also tears. Just.... no words.

Then Santana jumps off stage, yells at Finn for outing her to the world, and she jacks him. Straight up in the face. Just slaps him. Queue cliffhanger.

And that's what you missed... on Glee

Glee Rumour Has It/Someone Like You Performance

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

So, it's been released. The mash-up that we've been waiting for ever since we heard about it. Adele's "Rumour Has It" and "Someone Like You". As if "Someone Like You" didn't already break my heart, they had to go and have Naya belt it out. Which we love..so here's the video:

*everyone that watches this just died* We personally feel that this performance is..flawless. The singing is excellent, acting from one Naya Rivera during the performance is amazing and of course, the Brittana of it all.

Enjoy and get ready for next Tuesday..until then I'm gonna be listening to this non-stop.

Gleecap: Glee 3x05 - 'The First Time' Recap

Follow TroutyMouthBlog on Twitter

In case you weren't aware that there was a sex riot going on at McKinley High School this week, or in case you were stuck inside a cave... or under a rock, here's what you missed on Glee:

Artie thinks that Rachel & Blaine lack the sexual experience to portray Maria and Tony... he's right, because they're both virgins.

Rachel decides she wants to have sex with Finn while his parents were out of town because she loves him and she thinks it will help her play Maria.

Kurt questions whether or not he's too boring sexually for Blaine.

Artie and Beiste have a highly inappropriate conversation about why Beiste is a virgin, and she says she has a crush on Cooter, the Ohio State football recruiter.

Blaine visits Dalton & the Warblers do a brilliant rendition of "Uptown Girl"

The new kid at Dalton - Sebastian - wants Blaine Anderson. And he makes it very clear.

Then they did this weird montage of Blaine + Sebastian skits while Santana and Rachel were singing A Boy Like That, which the girls kill.

Artie tells Cooter to ask out Coach Beiste.

During Finn and Rachel's romantic dinner, Finn wants to know why Rachel wants to have sex then. She says it's because she loves him. Then she mentions that she wants to benefit from it to make her a better actor. Finn gets upset and they don't do the deed.

Mike Chang's dad found out he was doing the school musical. He gets upset tells Mike to quit. Mike says no, and his dad tells him if he doesn't grow up, he won't "have a father". So, Mike said ok. It was heartbreaking.

Cooter asks Beiste out, gives her flowers, and she thought someone put him up to it because he would never ask her. He called her beautiful. She cried. It was such a sweet moment.

Rachel asks the girls for advice about whether or not she should have sex with Finn. Quinn & Santana tell her to wait. Tina describes a really sweet moment between her and Mike because they loved each other. While she's explaining it, Rachel and Santana sing. It's lovely.

Sebastian gets Kurt & Blaine fake IDs to use at the local gay bar, where it's Drag Queen Wednesday. There, he runs into Karofsky, who had transferred. Karofsky said he could finally get through school without worrying that people would see him. In the mean time, Blaine was dancing with Sebastian. Kurt cuts in and steals his man back!

Blaine tries to get Kurt to have sex with him in the car. Kurt gets upset because he had been dancing with Sebastian and was offended that Blaine wanted to have sex right then.

They performed West Side Story. Artie was bossin' everyone around then got upset that everything was wrong. Then the cast thanked him for all his hard work before the show and he tells them that they made him feel like a grown man. It was sweet.

Then they performed America during West Side Story. It was a flawless performance by the whole cast. I got chills.

Mike's dad didn't attend the show. His mom did. She looked sad. So did he. But it was a tender moment. And he looked appreciative that his mom showed up. Again.. heartbreaking.

Blaine is upset because he thinks he could be a better Tony. Kurt tells him he did perfectly and that he was proud of him. They share a sweet moment, and Kurt tells him he wants to go back to his house.

Rachel goes to Finn's house. Finn is upset because the football coach told him he wouldn't be recruited. Finn thinks he's not going anywhere. Rachel told him his life wasn't over.

The show ends with a very tender moment of both couples losing their virginity.

And that's what you missed... on Glee!

Now before I sign off of here, I'd just like to take a minute to say that I was expecting something different in this episode. I think other people were expecting something different, too. But after watching it a second time, and talking with people, I've realized that I'm really impressed with how Glee handled the subject of losing virginity, especially for high school kids. It's not only a touchy subject but a life changing subject. The fact that they could tastefully make this episode a reality for millions of people around the world, I have to say Congrats and well done. This episode was one of the most tender episodes of Glee that I've ever seen. We get wrapped up in the excitement and the fast pace of the storylines, so for some people, it might have been a let down. I get that. But it is nice to see RIB & crew take a step back, and really make sure this was done right and tastefully. And the more I see it and think about it, the more I appreciate them for doing that. Just thought that should be said.

Now bring on next week. Please.

So the fact that I thought that the promo is better than this week's past episode (not to say I didn't like it... I just wish there had been a slightly less rated version of it hiding out somewhere... I mean "Like a Virgin" was more sexual) That means that episode 3x06 of Glee: "Mash Off" is seriously going to be the death of me. See for yourself:

Oh yeah. So Adele makes me cry when I hear Someone Like You. Naya's gonna make me sob. Remember when we heard like 3 seconds of this damn song and already started to tear up.

Oh yeah, and not to mention the hilarious lines. IS IT TUESDAY YET?!?!?!
